HMD might soon add a new product category to its portfolio according to a new report. According to the source, the Finnish company is developing a 5G portable Wi-Fi hotspot with a Unsioc chipset.

Back in August, a leak revealed that HMD plans to launch two power banks, one of which will have Qi2 support. While we are still waiting for them to be announced, the same source has provided details of another upcoming product.

The source of the news is X user, smashx_60, and he has shared specs of a device called the HMD Pocket Link, which he says is a portable 5G Wi-Fi hotspot. According to the post, the HMD Pocket Link will have a 1.77-inch color LCD panel, which is quite small. However, since the screen will display simple info such as signal strength, battery level, data usage, and the number of connected devices, it should suffice.

HMD's portable hotspot device will be powered by a Unisoc processor.

The Pocket Link will have a Unisoc T157 5G, an octa-core processor that has appeared in 5G feature phones such as the TCL T508N and Coolpad Y60 5G. The portable 5G hotspot will also pack a 3,000mAh battery capacity that charges via USB-C.

In terms of connectivity features, it will have a nano SIM slot, Wi-Fi 5, and a feature called “Save Data+” mode which we believe is a data saver mode.

Unfortunately, the leaked info doesn't include the price and release date of the HMD Pocket Link, so we can't say how soon it will arrive.
