The G5 will make its debut in Korea tomorrow with additional territories to follow in the following weeks.

LG officially announced the availability of its latest flagship late last month with a slew of bundles and extras to encourage early adopters including a free Cam Plus add-on with every purchase. Now, the South Korean manufacturer is reminding everyone that the launch of the G5 starts tomorrow on March 31st for users in South Korea followed by a North American launch the very next day. Availability in European, Asian, and Middle Eastern territories will trickle over the the remainder of the month.

The G5 will be offered with most major carriers and retailers in Europe including, O2, Cyberport, Media Markt, Otto, Redcoon, Saturn, and Vodafone. In the U.S., the device will be offered with AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint as well. The smartphone has been completely redesigned from previous iterations of the series to include an always-on display, a metal body, and a slide-out bottom drawer called the Magic Slot to access the 2800 mAh battery and to attach proprietary add-ons called LG Friends.

Expect our full review on the device to come soon. The G5 faces competition against the recently released Galaxy S7 and the soon-to-be-announced HTC One M9 successor. The GUI overview below highlights a number of built-in apps and the LG Friends Manager.

The following accessories will be available following the launch of the G5:

  • Cam Plus
  • LG Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play
  • 360 VR

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
