Kontaki.io has released the Nano Smart Tag IR wearable that enables hospitals to track patients in real-time with room-level accuracy. Whether a patient has wandered off due to dementia or simply misplaced by staff, the Nano Smart Tag IR allows hospitals to quickly locate patients. The live data also monitors doctor visits and patient flows to help eliminate inefficient medical care.

Kontaki.io has released the Nano Smart Tag IR wearable to allow hospitals to track patients in real-time with room-level accuracy. The location data helps medical facilities improve the delivery of prompt medical care and locate lost patients.

The number of people suffering from age-related dementia and Alzheimer’s is growing, along with the number of patients who wander off and get lost. Tracking down lost patients by searching room to room wastes time and staff resources, and the Nano Smart Tag IR counters this by providing the real-time location of all patients so they can be quickly found.

Readers who are worried about their parents, dogs, or children wandering off can buy the previously reported Tack GPS location tracker (from Amazon) that works worldwide over cellular networks.

The live data is also useful in monitoring doctor visits, ensuring each patient is seen for a minimum amount of time. The location data also reveals bottlenecks in patient flow through the medical treatment processes, allowing medical facilities to fine-tune flows for faster care.

The wearable wristband has the world’s smallest Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) tag compatible with Bluetooth 5.1. The tag has a broadcast range of 164 feet (50 m) and is powered by a more environmentally-friendly, silver oxide battery for up to 14 days before replacement. The Smart Tag IR measures 1.25 x 0.98 x 0.23 inches (32 x 25 x 6 mm) and weighs just 0.03 ounce (4 gr). The wearable is IP67-rated for protection against dust intrusion as well as water intrusion for 30 minutes at 3 feet (0.9 m).

Dime-sized Nano Tag IR sets the foundation for patient-focused use cases, driving efficiencies in patient flow, care coordination, and operations

NEW YORK, July 10, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Kontakt.io, the leader in healthcare RTLS and digital transformation, today announced the release of the Patient Flow solution. The solution, delivered as a service, is powered by the new Nano Tag IR – the world's smallest disposable, wearable Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) tag equipped with infrared (IR). Compatible with hospital wristbands and ergonomic to wear, the Nano Tag IR reliably locates patients in real-time at the hospital room level.

The Patient Flow solution is designed for rapid and cost-efficient deployment at the enterprise scale. It tracks the live patient journey from admission to discharge and reveals bottlenecks. Beyond knowing where patients are and improving operational efficiencies, the Patient Flow solution integrates EHR and RTLS data from the healthcare facility, delivering AI data analytics to uncover answers health systems don't but should ask about.

The Patient Flow solution enables a wide range of use cases including but not limited to:

Admissions:
Analyzing ambulatory flow efficiency
Monitoring patient wait times, room availability, and clinician time
Clinics and Inpatient:
Monitoring clinician time in the patient room
Monitoring patient rounding and automating documentation
Informing rounding physicians of patient room occupancy
Preventing patient elopement in memory care
Informing HVAC services of patient room occupancy for energy-saving
Discharge:
Automating patient discharge, sanitation workflows, and room preparation
"The patient journey is paved with enormous waste and inefficiencies, costing health systems millions of dollars," said Rom Eizenberg, chief revenue officer and head of product innovation at Kontakt.io. "Kontakt.io's Patient Flow solution, powered by the Nano Tag IR's room-level accuracy, is solving this acute problem. By removing sand grains hiding in the joints, Kontakt.io helps eliminate friction from care delivery and ensures a safer and smoother patient journey."
