At the New York Auto Show, Kia confirmed that it will release a production version of its EV9 SUV concept in the US in 2023. The company gave a broad release window, saying that the electric vehicle would be available in the second half of next year, between July and December 2023.
Kia did not confirm any other details of the vehicle, which means that the pricing of the SUV is still unknown. This announcement follows a statement from Kia several weeks ago about the EV9’s European launch, which has also been confirmed for 2023.
In the older announcement, Kia confirmed that the EV9 would have streamlining features such as retractable roof rails and cameras instead of traditional wing mirrors. As with the original concept, revealed last November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the SUV will also have a solar panel on the hood vent duct, which can be used to power the car’s battery.
As we reported last month, the vehicle will have Kia’s AutoMode autonomous driving technology, including a Highway Driving Pilot feature. The SUV is expected to have 350 kW fast charging abilities and around 336 miles (540 km) of range.
