If you’re a fan of custom ROMs and rooting, then your Iconia Tab A500 is probably already cruising with Android 3.1. However, if you’ve been a bit wary about voiding your warranty, then you hopefully won’t have to wait much longer for the update.
According to Acer’s German Facebook page, the Iconia Tab A500 will be officially receiving Android 3.1 starting on the 5th of July. The update will be released OTA (over-the-air) and should add enhanced multi-tasking, support for external peripherals over USB, and other Honeycomb 3.1 features.
When the Tab A500 does receive the 3.1 update, Acer will join the ranks of ASUS, Toshiba, and Samsung in offering Honeycomb 3.1 tablets. Unfortunately, for now the update is only confirmed for Germany, but hopefully the rest of the world will receive the update on the 5th as well.
