The upcoming Huawei Kirin 950 SoC has entered the rumor mill earlier this year and now its specs leaked online via Chinese website Mobile-Dad. Similar to its siblings, the Kirin 950 packs a few ARM cores, next to a next-gen Mali graphics processing unit that promises to offer quite a punch compared to the rather average graphics performance offered by all existing Kirin chipsets.
These are the highlights of the Huawei Kirin 950 SoC:
- Compute cores: four ARM Cortex-A53 (frequency not mentioned) and four ARM Cortex-A72 up to 2.4 GHz
- Graphics processing unit: ARM Mali T880
- Memory support: dual-channel LPDDR4 with 25.6 GB/s bandwidth
- Storage support: UFS 2.0, eMMC 5.1, SD 4.1 (UHS-II)
- Camera and video: dual ISP (42 MP), native 10-bit 4K Main10 HEVC&VP9 de-/encoding
- Audio: Tensilica HiFi 4 DSP
- Connectivity: dual-SIM LTE Cat. 10, MI-MIMO WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4.2 Smart, USB 3.0, NFC
This new chip is expected to launch inside a Huawei smartphone later this year, but it is possible to see third party phone makers using it as well. We will get back to the Kirin 950 SoC as soon as the official information comes out, so stay tuned.

In my early school days, I hated writing and having to make up stories. A decade later, I started to enjoy it. Since then, I published a few offline articles and then I moved to the online space, where I contributed to major websites that are still present online as of 2021 such as Softpedia, Brothersoft, Download3000, but I also wrote for multiple blogs that have disappeared over the years. I've been riding with the Notebookcheck crew since 2013 and I am not planning to leave it anytime soon. In love with good mechanical keyboards, vinyl and tape sound, but also smartphones, streaming services, and digital art.
