It seems Best Buy has finally come to a pinpoint release date for the highly anticipated 7-inch HTC Flyer tablet.
The large U.S. electronics retail store will be carrying the HTC Flyer exclusively, and has announced that the tablet will land on store shelves this coming May 22nd. As previously noted, the Flyer will ship with Android 2.3 only, but HTC has promised a Honeycomb upgrade sometime in the near future. Whether or not the device will be further upgradeable to Android 3.1 is still a mystery.
Potential Flyer owners, however, should note that Best Buy will not be including the Scribe stylus pen with the tablet, as it will instead be sold separately for $80. Apparently, U.S. customers will be getting the short end of the bargain, as European customers have the stylus included as standard. The tablet has been made available across Europe since earlier this month.
The HTC Flyer will launch for $499 in the U.S. Those who pre-ordered should be able to pick up their tablets on that date as well.

There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
