HTC has made available its 5-inch Desire 628 smartphone across parts of Europe. Core specifications include:

- 13 MP f/2.0 rear + 5 MP f/2.4 front cameras
- Dual-SIM (2x nano-SIM)

- 8.2 mm thick
The rear camera includes a 28 mm focal length and a back-illumited sensor (BSI) while the unnamed processor may be a MediaTek solution. Two SKUs are available with the entry-level model having 2 GB RAM and 16 GB eMMC for 200 Euros while the higher-end SKU is equipped with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB eMMC for 230 Euros.
The HTC Desire series is the manufacturer's budget lineup of smartphones designed to be very price competitive in contrast to the higher-end HTC M9 or or HTC 10 series. The manufacturer recently expressed interest in continuing its smartphone branch despite tepid sales. The Taiwanese manufacturer will also be responsible for at least two upcoming Nexus smartphones to be revealed later this year.
