HP TouchPad owners worldwide can now update their tablets to system version 3.0.2.

Although a minor webOS update, the version adds several improvements to text autocorrection, wallpaper selection options, improved functionality on certain webOS apps, faster scrolling and image rendering and calendar tweaks. The usual performance and stability enhancements are included as well.

Our products are very good already now, and they are only getting better through oncoming software updates; over-the-air, of course. We are extremely committed to take the webOS experience further,” said head of HP webOS development Ari Jaaski.

The 9.7-inch HP TouchPad launched not too long ago in the U.S. and is the forerunner of the webOS 3.0 platform. The tablet sports a dual-core Snapdragon APQ8060 CPU, 1GB RAM, front-facing camera and a 1024x768 resolution display. The 16GB model currently sells for $449 online.

After graduating with a B.S. in environmental hydrodynamics from the University of California, I studied reactor physics to become licensed by the U.S. NRC to operate nuclear reactors. There's a striking level of appreciation you gain for everyday consumer electronics after working with modern nuclear reactivity systems astonishingly powered by computers from the 80s.
