HP ready to reinvigorate WebOS, launches teaser site
After the acquisition of Palm by HP, talks about the future of WebOS have been mum and left uncertainty for the promising mobile operating system. This may all change in an event coming next week, however, as HP is expected to showcase what they will have in store for the WebOS platform this year.
We have previously reported specification leaks on the HP Topaz tablet, but HP has more recently launched an official site with a countdown timer leading up to next week’s event that may support those leaks. In addition, a short 9-second video teaser of a plausible tablet accompanies the countdown, which gives further evidence that HP is ready to spill the details on at least one new WebOS tablet. Websites Electronista and The Examiner predict it to be the Topaz tablet, but new smartphone announcements would be unsurprising as there have been no major phone redesigns featuring WebOS since the original Palm Pre and Pixi back in 2009. Hopefully, HP will be able to ignite interest back in WebOS with promising hardware and features.
