The HP Pavilion dv7 series regularly evolves and continues to improve. This new model, the dv7-4055sf has an entry-level positioning. The new HP Pavilion dv7-4055sf sets its stall out by its ease-of-use. This computer will be worth looking at for mainly office doc and internet usage, or for viewing photos and video. For the rest, performance is too limited.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470: Entry level DirectX 11 chip with GDDR5 support but only 80 shader cores. Supports Eyefinity (up to 4 monitors) and 8-ch HD audio over HDMI. Performance on par with the old GeForce 8600M GT.

Only some 3D games with very low demands are playable with these cards.

This large display size is used for laptops which are mainly intended for an use on a desk.

Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.

In former years, this weight was representative for laptops with a 14-16 inch display-diagonal. Nowadays, 17 inch laptops weigh less than that.

In the laptop segment, HP was the world's largest manufacturer from 2014 to 2016 with a market share of 20-21% from 2014 to 2016, but they only exceed Lenovo by a small margin as of recently. HP is not present in the smartphone sector (as of 2016).
