Worst of all, though, is the battery life, with the laptop lasting only 1hr 33mins of typical classroom use, including video playback and web browsing. HP has just announced an update to the range – the dv7 – so let’s hope this addresses the problem.

AMD Radeon HD 6490M: Entry to middle class graphics card based on the Seymore XT codename with support for fast GDDR5. The chip can be clocked at 700-750 with GDDR5 and 800 with slow DDR3. In the laptop segment, HP was the world's largest manufacturer from 2014 to 2016 with a market share of 20-21% from 2014 to 2016, but they only exceed Lenovo by a small margin as of recently. HP is not present in the smartphone sector (as of 2016).
