Google Gemini subscription free for students for one year

Typically, the new semester at universities in Germany begins in mid-October. Ahead of that, students worldwide can now claim a free one-year Gemini subscription. In the US, students get Gemini Pro, while students elsewhere get “only” Gemini Plus for 12 months. Pro is still available at a discounted rate (€5.49 per month instead of €21.99). The Plus subscription normally costs €4.99 per month.

Students can also combine the offer with YouTube Premium at a 70 percent discount. That brings the price of the bundle, including Gemini through the Google AI Pro plan + YouTube Premium, to €10.99 per month. The regular price would be €21.99 per month. The respective standard prices will automatically be reinstated once the 12-month promotional period ends.

The standalone Google Plus subscription includes access to Gemini Omni, along with twice the Gemini usage limit and 400GB of Google storage. Google is particularly promoting its new study notebooks feature, which launched in June. Students can upload their study materials and notes and get help with learning—for example, through personalized quizzes generated by Gemini or additional explanation sessions.

Over the coming weeks, study notebooks is set to gain additional features, including graphics and images as part of the lessons. For visual learners, Gemini can create functional 3D models, such as a model of a DNA strand.

To sign up for the subscription, students need to select their preferred subscription plan on the promotional offer page. They must then verify their student status through SheerID. Finally, a payment method must be added. The promotion ends on December 31, 2026. Before the offer expires, students should make sure to cancel in time if they do not want to pay the standard prices.
