Google is planning on bringing its Google Assistant service to a large number of new countries and the voice assistant will also support multiple new languages in 2018. The company has announced this during a presentation at the Digital New Initiative Summit in Amsterdam.

A slide of the presentation showing Google's expansion plans for Assistant was shared on Twitter by a Dutch journalist. A world map is shown, and all countries that will support Google Assistant in 2018 are marked blue. According to the slide, a large part of Western Europe, Central and South America, Russia, Saudi Arabia and India will receive local support for Google Assistant this year.

Google will expand Assistant to 52 countries in total and add 17 new languages. Of those languages, Dutch, Indian, Arabic and Russian were confirmed. Google recently added the Italian and Spanish languages for Assistant in addition to the already supported English, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese.

Google Assistant is available on Android smartphones running Lollipop and higher, Google Home devices and certain third-party products as well. The intelligent assistant is also available to download as a separate app for iOS devices.

An exact release date or a specific list of the new countries and languages hasn't been made available yet.
