SpaceX is testing a truly worldwide Starlink satellite Internet service subscription that would work anywhere on land there is coverage. The new Starlink Global Roaming service will be available for US$200 a month with one-time equipment cost of US$599 and is only priced in US dollars for now with import duties on top of the Starlink Kit price.

Starlink is now offering true global satellite Internet coverage tryouts priced at US$200 for a monthly subscription service, plus the US$599 equipment fee. Previously, the Starlink roaming service was tied to the continent and had a usage window, after which the kits had to be returned to active duty in the subscriber's country of Starlink activation.

The new Starlink Global Roaming service offer could in theory be used in a way that circumvents country availability or regulatory restrictions as the subscribers could simply take their equipment and use Internet worldwide wherever SpaceX's satellites can beam signal down. The current residential Starlink subscription price is US$110, so the upgrade to be able to use your equipment anywhere in the world comes at almost double the monthly fee.

In the email sent to potential testers, Starlink warns that the ability "to connect almost anywhere on land in the world" may come with "brief periods of poor" or non-existent connectivity, while the specificity of "land" use means that it isn't meant to be a replacement or competition of Starlink's own Maritime Internet service that is much more expensive.

Starlink also warns that its new Global Roaming service may be contingent on regulatory approvals and refers potential customers to its availability map that shows the areas with current and future Starlink satellite Internet coverage. In addition to the Global Starlink Roaming service subscription and equipment price, it adds, potential users may have to pay customs duty or other taxes levied on imports, too.
