Gaming scion. With the P57W, Gigabyte presents a high-end notebook in 17-inch format, which brings various modern features and technologies. Apart from a replaceable drive bay, the manual fan control stands out. Do rivals have to prepare for strong competition?

All in all, the Gigabyte P57W is a perfectly commendable gaming laptop. Its GTX 970M is more than capable of handling most of today’s games, and its ability to venture beyond the realms of its 1,920 x 1,080 display is a big bonus. It’s also one of more subtle-looking gaming laptops around.

If you would rather not be tethered to your desk and are looking for a gaming machine with a reasonable-sized screen and ample power on tap, the Gigabyte P57W delivers admirably. It's better value than the Asus ROG G752VT, and while it may not have the premium looks, the orange accents and angular design are enough of a clue to hint at the power within.

Gigabyte P57x V6-CF2
Gaming laptops have become a common term these days as many people are moving away from desktops to a more convenient laptop with almost similar specifications and capabilities. Besides, the gaming laptops also provide enough power for high requirement jobs like graphic processing and designing. The Gigabyte P57x V6-CF2 is a mid range gaming laptop which cost lower than many gaming laptops in the market but is still equipped with enough hardware specification for proper gaming. The design of a gaming laptop tends to look fancier. This is a common case for brands like Alienware, Asus's ROG and Acer's Predator series, however, the Gigabyte P57x V6-CF2 is mostly plain in black without much color or design on the appearance. When closed, it looks like a prehistoric, bulky laptop. Even with the orange stripes running on the sides, it still manages to look boring and outdated. On the other hand, this bulky look gives it a very tough feel. Its built is very tough and feels like it can hold on to some rough usage. The interesting part then, is mostly on the inside. It features a 6th generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16 GB DDR4 RAM, an integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 GPU and a discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 GDDR5 8 GB graphic card and supports Nvidia's Optimus Technology. The RAM of the laptop is upgradable to a maximum of 32 GB. As for storage, the Gigabyte P57x V6-CF2 supports three different storage system. It features a 2.5” hard disk drive slot, an M.2 solid state disk slot and a swappable bay. Storage supplied for the laptop is a 256 GB SSD and a 1000 GB hard disk drive. The hybrid hard drive storage system is capable of achieving both faster boot up from the solid state disk and large storage size from the conventional hard disk drive. With the M.2 SSD, it can achieve a read speed of 2000 MB/s, which is up to 4x faster than traditional SATA SSD technology. This can greatly decrease boot up time and makes execution of programs even faster. The Gigabyte P57x V6-CF2 also features a Super Multi DVD-RW drive. This is an extra feature to be able to burn and read a disc on the go. However, users can swap the drive to install another hard disk drive or solid state drive. A caddy for the installation is included. The display of the laptop is a 17.3" Full HD IPS anti-glare LCD. It is common for a gaming laptop to have a big screen to deliver a more realistic gaming environment and this certainly does the job. With anti-glare coating applied to the screen, it can prevent reflection very well, which is suitable for gamers on the go. However, images displayed on the anti-glare display will look a bit duller compared to glossy displays. The Gigabyte P57x V6-CF2 is equipped with a full-sized anti-ghosting 30-key rollover backlit keyboard. The anti-ghosting keyboard is normally featured on gaming laptops to prevent that key presses are not registered when multiple keys are pressed simultaneously. This is a good feature as gamers normally press multiple keys at once. The Gigabyte P57x V6-CF2 features a fan tweak function to adjust the fan speed of normal or gaming mode. This is also another good feature as laptops tend to run hot while gaming. In short, this laptop is a very good, budget friendly gaming machine. The Gigabyte P57X v6 is based on an elegant design philosophy and neutral colour scheme. More specifically, the laptop’s matte black finish looks extremely stylish while being suitable for business meetings. This greatly enhances the product’s flexibility and allows you to enjoy the impressive horsepower for both work and leisure. Of course, a basic black coating wouldn’t appeal to those who prefer a more flamboyant appearance and Gigabyte has injected a hint of colour with two orange stripes. These attractive accents help the laptop to have its own distinctive style and evoke a sense of excitement.

The Gigabyte P57x V6-CF2 is an eye-opening demo of what Nvidia’s new GPUs are capable of. If you have some money to spend, laptop gaming has never been so good. However, the Gigabyte P57x V6-CF2 has a few issues that make us hungry to see what other laptop-makers will come up with. The one serious issue is that it gets hot, and not just in areas you won’t notice. That the keyboard gets hot after a relatively short stint under pressure is a sign of flawed laptop design.

The Gigabyte P57Xv6 is a solid gaming machine that focuses on providing an exemplary experience at 1080p - and beyond if you have a high-resolution monitor. It sports a classy design that's eye-catching without being over-the-top, has a smooth grippable rounded chassis and isn't too heavy to realistically carry around everywhere. If you're not fussed about features such as an aluminum chassis or 4K (or indeed high refresh rate) display, the omission of these features helps the P57Xv6 achieve gaming performance that eclipses Maxwell-based machines that you could pick up for a similar price just a few months ago. Sure, it's expensive, but this is a portable machine that's destined to dine at the table of maxed-out 1080p gaming for some time to come.

With the GIGABYTE P57, you know exactly what you are getting. It’s a monster of a laptop, both in size, cost, and power. And it’s definitely VR ready. If you want a high end gaming laptop, don’t mind dropping a couple of grand, and have a very large computer case, the P57 won’t let you down. Especially if you replace the ODD with an SSD as soon as you get it out of the box.

Plain, yet Pascal. Gigabyte hasn’t changed much in their latest refresh of the P57 series gaming machines, but the big headliner here is the introduction of newer NVIDIA Pascal architecture GPUs. With a GTX 1070 in charge, is the P57X v6 likely to turn any heads?

It may not look amazing, but the P57X's performance matches that of much more expensive gaming laptops. It's brilliant for laptop gamers who want to save a few bucks while still getting great performance.

Marginally improved. Not much has changed since the last Gigabyte P57X we reviewed. But with a newer Kaby Lake CPU, more RAM, and a greatly improved 4K display, is this perhaps the one to own?

The Gigabyte P57Xv7-KL3K3 gets a lot of things right. It's slim, light design makes it one of the few portable desktop replacements on the market. The system's QHD display is bright, accurate and plenty vivid, and thanks to its Core i7 processor and Nvidia GTX 1070 GPU, this machine can keep pace with the big boys. And I'm a big fan of swappable drives. However, for $1,999, I want better battery life and audio quality.

The P57X isn't as extravagant as some rivals, but it offers huge power and bolsters its performance with a solid 4K screen and solid build quality. The keyboard and battery life are a little underwhelming, but this is a laptop with no major problems. That, and the reasonable price, makes it one of the best big gaming laptops on the market.

Gigabyte: GIGABYTE Technology is a Taiwan-based manufacturer of computer hardware products best known for its motherboards. Established in 1986, its major customers include custom boutique PC manufacturers such as Alienware. Secondary lines in the company's product portfolio include complete PCs, laptops, optical drives, LCD monitors, keyboards, mice, cooling components, mobile phones and high end mobile phone products (PDA phone, TV phone etc.), networking equipment, power supplies, and a line of barebone mid and full sized ATX computer cases. Gigabyte laptop reviews are rare and the global laptop market share low.
In the notebook sector, Gigabyte is a medium player and does not belong to the Top 10 manufacturers globally. There are many reviews on Gigabyte laptops with average ratings, but there are only few reviews on Gigabyte tablets. Gigabyte does not play a role in the smartphone sector (as of 2016).
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M:
Second fastest high-end graphics card based on the Maxwell GM204 chip from the GeForce GTX 900M series.
With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile: Pascal based high-end mobile graphics card based on a cut down GP104 (like the GTX 1080) and GDDR5 graphics memory. Successor to the GTX 980M with a 10 Watts higher TDP. Similar to the desktop GTX 1070 performance wise, but with more shaders and lower clock speeds.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile: The mobile GTX 1060 is based on the GP106 chip and offer 1280 shaders. Compared to the identically named desktop version it features a slightly lower clock rate. Games in Full HD and maximum details should run fluently on the card.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
6700HQ: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.
Intel Kaby Lake:
i7-7700HQ: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture. Besides four CPU cores (including Hyper Threading), the chips also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU and is manufactured in an improved 14 nm process.

3 kg:
In former years, this weight was representative for laptops with a 14-16 inch display-diagonal. Nowadays, 17 inch laptops weigh less than that.
4 kg:
74.57%: This rating is bad. Most notebooks are better rated. This is not a recommendation for purchase.
