The CPU power of a traditional Ultrabook with the bells and whistles of a rugged laptop. Unless if you plan on mainly using the Getac at night, then we recommend opting for the higher-end SKU with the brighter backlight.

While there are a good number of units that are stated to withstand both heat and cold as well as dust and wet there are a lesser number designed to work for longer periods in places where there is zero or very limited mains power available so this triple battery model might be the answer.

The S410 G4 doesn't unseat Getac's 13.3-inch B360 as our Editors' Choice winner among ultra-sturdy laptops, because the fully rugged B360 can survive higher drops and rougher treatment (as can the Durabook S14I). Coming at it from the other direction, the Acer Enduro N3 is less tough but considerably cheaper than the S410 G4. But the S410 G4 is an impressive, versatile platform for emergency responders and field workers, with configuration options that can handle just about any scenario. It goes toe to toe with the Toughbook 55 Mk2 or just about anything else out there.

Intel's Tiger Lake-U series has done wonders for consumer laptops and so it's great to finally see the same options available on rugged models designed for enterprise or industrial use.

Getac's S410 G5 is heavy and expensive as configured—for more than $4K, you'd think our test unit would at least include a Core i7 instead of a Core i5—but that comes with the territory. However, if you need a laptop that has your back in bad conditions, the Getac S410 G5 is an excellent choice that easily replaces the previous award holder as our semi-rugged Editors' Choice award honoree.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.38 kg:
3.211 kg:
A laptop with this weight is comparatively heavy and less designed for mobility than for use at the desk. Therefore, the devices tend to shine less with battery life than with a large screen and higher performance.
80.72%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
