Amazon has given the Garmin inReach Mini 2 satellite communicator its lowest price ever after a 38% discount from its MSRP of $399.99.
The tiny companion provides worldwide GPS navigation with global satellite coverage for two-way texting and SOS messaging. An inReach subscription of $7.99+ per month is required to use the global Iridium satellite texting and SOS features.
The inReach Mini 2 can display waypoints, routes, navigation information, and texts on its 0.9 x 0.9 in. monochrome, sunlight-readable display. This helps hikers, sailors, and outdoor adventurers stay on track and stay safe wherever they venture.
The rechargeable lithium ion battery provides two days of runtime under moderate tree cover and high detail activity recording at 10-minute send intervals, and 30 days under open sky with standard detail activity recording at 30-minute intervals, according to Garmin.
Although some smartphones now have satellite communication capability, their use of non-Iridium networks means they do not have complete worldwide coverage, such as at the North and South Poles. Also, no smartphone can provide 30 days of non-stop access to GPS and SOS services.
The inReach Mini 2 measures 2.04 x 3.90 x 1.03 in. (5.17 x 9.90 x 2.61 cm), weighs 3.5 oz. (100.0 g), and has an IPX7 rating against temporary immersion in water.
