Whether editing photos, drawing illustrations with the Apple Pencil, or designing entire brochures, the Affinity all-in-one app is an alternative to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign alike. The free app is now also available on the iPad.

Previously available only for Windows and macOS, the new Affinity app is now also available from Canva for the Apple iPad ($749 on Amazon). The software can now be downloaded from the App Store. While most features can be used for free, select AI features require a paid Canva Pro subscription.

The new all-in-one app replaces Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher, and includes most of the features of all three apps. The app lets users quickly switch between Personas such as Sketch, Pixel, Vector and Layout to access an interface and tools suited to the respective tasks. This makes the app not only an alternative to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign all at once, but also a potential time-saver, as drawings can be created directly within a layout and photos can be edited directly in the document after being placed, without having to switch between apps.

The software can even open files created with the corresponding Adobe apps. Affinity can process RAW photos and offers many advanced features, such as merging multiple images into an HDR photo, a panorama, or a macro photo with a particularly large depth of field.

With support for the Apple Pencil, layers, and numerous brushes, the app is also a genuine alternative to Procreate. Canva emphasizes that the iPadOS app is not a stripped-down companion app, but a fully featured app that is compatible with the desktop app.
