Tesla is now testing the only new vehicle left for release this year, the Model Y Performance facelift. After it launched the 2026 Model Y AWD and cheaper RWD trims, then the Model S and Model X refresh versions, it is now time for the last piece of the portfolio puzzle to get an update.
The 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance is expected to sport the 510 HP drivetrain of the Model 3 Performance, which should catapult it from 0-60 mph in a bit over three seconds, which would be quite a feat for a 2-ton SUV.
The Model Y refresh sports better aerodynamics than its predecessor thanks to body, wheels, and brake kit redesigns, so the 2026 Performance trim should go a bit further on a charge despite being more powerful.
The first look at the new Model Y Performance refresh without prototype camouflage was filmed while testing it in the Alps, and confirms that all the aerodynamic redesigns from the Juniper refresh are here as well.
Needless to say, there are still telltale signs that this is the fastest Model Y, such as the Performance badging at the rear, as well as the carbon fiber spoiler and two diffusers in the sporty rear bumper. The 21-inch wheels may be exclusive to the Model Y Performance as well, just as the Model X facelift was launched with a fresh set of wheels.
The most powerful Model Y already underwent racetrack testing at Nürburgring, but it was covered in camo and this here is a much better look at what to expect when the 2026 Performance trim hits Tesla’s configurator at about $10,000 price premium over the AWD version.
