The robotics company Figure has unveiled its third-generation humanoid — Figure 03. According to the announcement, it is a redesign aimed at creating a truly general-purpose robot that can perform human-like tasks in home and commercial settings alike. It is powered by Helix, the company's vision-language-action AI.
A major feature highlighted by Figure is wireless inductive charging. With the charging coils integrated directly into the robot's feet, it can simply step onto a charging mat to charge. The robot charges at 2 kW, has a 2.3 kWh battery, and is said to operate for 5 hours at a time.
Figure 03 also arrives with completely redesigned hands that include cameras and ultra-sensitive tactile sensors. The company claims the in-house sensors allow the humanoid to detect as little as 3 grams of pressure — sensitive enough to register the weight of a paperclip. This level of precision, combined with the new embedded palm cameras, gives the robot smooth, dextrous control over fragile or irregular objects.
Among other major upgrades, Figure 03 is said to be safer for home use, with a lighter frame, soft textile coverings, and a battery that has received UN38.3 and UL2271 battery safer certifications. The robot was also engineered from the ground up for high-volume production at Figure's new manufacturing facility — BotQ — which the company says currently can roll out up to 12,000 robots per year. These advancements, Figure says, establish the foundation for a scalable, general-purpose robot.
