The world’s largest retail chain Walmart has given official confirmation of the arrival of the Apple iPad in its stores by the Friday, 15th of October 2010. According to the retailing major, part of the plan is to initially launch the iPad across hundreds of stores in the United States and eventually encompassing around 2,300 Walmart stores by the mid of November this year.
In an attempt to wade through cut throat competition and increase its share in the lucrative market share pie, Apple took this major decision with other rivals tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab following suit and likely to hit all four major carriers in the United States very soon.
Buyers need not fret over pricing issues as thankfully there would be no difference in terms of price compared to what Apple quotes. Having said that, this also means that there is no immediate discounts which are so common across all Walmart stores.
Apple did good to bring the iPad relatively quicker than the iPhone to big retail chains, mainly due to the exploding increase in demand for tablets in the market, and at the same time the mushrooming of competitors including some of the big houses.
The Apple iPad can be purchased online via Walmart stores and will be featured as a separate showcase of the Apple hardware in-store.
