After testing a free version of X's AI chatbot, Grok, in limited regions last month, the social media platform made the assistant free for everyone earlier this month. It appears now that xAI is testing a standalone app for Grok in limited regions.
Techcrunch has reported that the standalone app is only for Apple's iOS and is available in beta in select countries. The Wall Street Journal reported last month that X was looking to decouple Grok from its platform and was considering building a standalone app. Besides the app, there is also a dedicated website for the chatbot that says "coming soon."
Earlier this month, xAI added image generation to Grok with an autoregressive image model that can effectively predict token inputs "from interleaved text and image data." It can also take existing images as input and generate images based on them.
You can currently try out Grok for Free, albeit with restrictions. The free version limits users to 10 questions every 2 hours and can analyze three images per day.
