Digital Storm announces Veloce - 13.3” gaming notebook with Haswell
Small form-factor gaming notebooks are not very common, but with increasingly power-efficient CPUs and GPUs on the market, some manufacturers have started to experiment with smaller models. One would be the 11.6-inch Clevo W110ER, which is sold under a variety of brand/model names.
Now Digital Storm has unveiled a slightly larger but still comparatively small (in this segment) gaming laptop called Veloce, with a Full HD (1920x1080) 13.3-inch display.
There has been no downscaling in the hardware department, however. The Veloce is equipped with a quad-core Intel Haswell (4th-generation Core) i7-4800MQ processor running at 2.7 GHz (up to 3.7 GHz with Turbo Boost), 8 GB of 1600 MHz RAM and a high-end Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M (review here).
Other specs include mini-HDMI, VGA, Ethernet and 3 USB 3.0 ports. You can also equip the notebook with dual mSATA SSDs in RAID mode, plus a standard 2.5” notebook hard drive.
Although the Veloce is no ultrabook, it is quite compact considering the hardware. The laptop is 1.26 inches (32 mm) thick and weighs in at 4.6 pounds (2.09 kg).
