Enduring. The Dell Vostro 3558 is a low-cost office notebook that is primarily designed as a working device. This claim is supported by good battery runtimes and decent input devices. It is unfortunate that Dell did not equip the device with a digital-video output.

The best word to sum up the $349 Dell Vostro 15 3000 is "fine." The notebook's snappy keyboard and satisfactory battery life are suitable for basic business tasks, and its 1366 x 768 display is crisp enough for reading detailed reports or watching the occasional movie.

Battery life is disappointing and screen quality is poor. Application performance measures well but it often felt slow to respond in actual use. Corners have been cut but overall the Dell Vostro is a workable machine that leads with the latest Intel silicon.
