Dell decided to go on the safe path with the Vostro 3559 with a familiar design, features and specs. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the best way to handle things in the emerging low-end market. Now, there are far more lucrative offers like some of the HP ProBook 450 G3 configurations or the refreshed ASUS X556UQ notebook with Core i5-7200U and GeForce 940MX GPU. For a few extra bucks, you can even opt for the durable Latitude 3570, which is superior to this one in almost every aspect. You might also want to consider the Acer Aspire E5-575G, which fared pretty well in our tests and might probably be one of the best budget solutions we’ve reviewed so far. A pretty close call with the ProBook 450 G3 actually.

The Vostro 15 3525 is not without its issues, but having its price in mind, we have to give credit for its good upgradeability and a comfortable keyboard. And with the 120Hz display, it is one RAM stick away from unleashing its iGPU and making it a low-key gaming device to take to the office and be unnoticed.

Oh boy, this is difficult. There are some issues about the Vostro 15 3525 that just ruin the overall great experience we had with it. For every “Yes!” there was a “but…”. For instance – the laptop offers a decent I/O, which includes a USB Type-C port, but it can only be used for data transfers. Moreover, the Athlon (and Ryzen 3 3250U) versions swap it for a USB Type-A port. And to make matters even more frustrating, the USB Type-A port on the right side runs at 2.0 speeds. So, even though the machine features an SD card reader, the I/O is not a “pro”. Of course, then comes the performance. First, let’s get one thing out of the way – using single-channel memory with iGPUs is not recommended. Stick another memory module, and you will make your laptop significantly better for gaming. Respectively, cooling is a factor too. Although it can keep the Ryzen 5 5625U above its base clock speed, the 88°C it is running at is not a big friend to the keyboard. Which as a result runs at about 53°C during extreme workloads. Dell Vostro 15 3525’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles...

The Dell Vostro 15 3530 establishes itself as a reliable productivity laptop for budget-conscious users. With its 13th Gen Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD, it performs well for routine tasks like web browsing, video streaming, and document editing. While its gaming capabilities are limited, it can handle casual titles like Valorant and League of Legends, provided users manage their expectations. The Vostro 15 3530’s value proposition becomes most apparent when considering its target market. In educational environments, its durable construction and reliable performance outweigh the aesthetic compromises. For small businesses, the comprehensive port selection and efficient productivity performance justify its position as a cost-effective computing solution.

The Dell Vostro 15 3530 is kind of a mixed bag. We got the metal version of the device with the most powerful CPU option (Core i7-1355U) and with maxed-out memory configuration (2x 8GB DDR4-3200MHz). This sounds good on paper but in reality, the processor can’t show its full potential in medium and long loads because of the weak cooling system that has just one fan and one heat pipe. Probably because of that, the performance of the iGPU is also mediocre but still fine for playing CS:GO and Dota 2 on Medium details. The keyboard and touchpad combo is one of the biggest pros of this machine. The board has an optional backlight, it’s spill-resistant, and it’s comfortable for typing thanks to the long key travel and the clicky feedback.

Just like the Intel version, the Dell Vostro 15 3535 left us with mixed feelings. We got the plastic version of the laptop that has a grippy texture but the whole chassis is flexible. On the bright side, the device is light and the profile thickness is on the thinner side so portability looks good. The keyboard is nice – it has an optional backlight, it’s spill-resistant, and it has a NumberPad section. The long key travel and the clicky feedback of the keycaps make the board comfortable for typing but sadly the chassis suffers from a lot of flex during typing. The touchpad is smooth and accurate. We are a bit amazed that the overall performance of the laptop is okay given the rater basic cooling solution. The CPU can maintain higher than the base clock frequencies and the same goes for the power limit.
