Dell Latitude 14 5431 review – the more power is worth it
Source: Laptop Media English
We can spend all day talking about the ton of features this device offers in its numerous configurations. It comes with an optional fingerprint reader, IR face recognition scanner, proximity sensor, 1080p Web camera, LTE support, and more. And this is great, don’t get us wrong. However, what is more, important to us, is to get an adequate base. Some might say, it’s au naturel. In our opinion, this is a great machine. At least from this perspective. It has a great performance for this type of product. It sustains 30W of TDP for long periods of time and can boost pretty high too. The cooling solution it is equipped with, does a great job of cooling the internals, without having a negative impact on comfort, both in terms of noise, and keyboard temperature. Dell Latitude 14 5431’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. Thankfully, its backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment. On the other hand, the screen covers only 50% of the sRGB colors, which has two impacts. One – the image looks a bit dull, when compared to a full-coverage panel, and two – you can’t expect accurate colors. Be wary of a 768p TN display option, which is something you want to stay away from. On the bright side, you can pick a panel with full sRGB coverage, which will be ideal for color-related work. Furthermore, you get two SODIMM slots for memory expansion, which is not usual for 14-inch notebooks. But yet again, this is not an ordinary device. It is a business outfit, which provides more than you might need. What you really need, however, is long battery life. In this case, the 64Wh battery lasts for more than 13 hours of Web browsing, or about 9 hours of video playback. This way, it is almost sure that you will be able to get an entire workday on battery power. On the other hand, using more demanding software will obliterate the package quite quickly. Another aspect we really like is the port selection. Two Thunderbolt ports are joined by a couple of USB Type-As, a MicroSD card reader, an HDMI connector, and a LAN port. This makes it a strong opponent even to the boldest of Fujitsus out there.

Dell Latitude 5450 review – Small but Fast
Source: Laptop Media English
The Dell Latitude 5450 is a snappy small office device that surprises us with its performance. Despite the modest-looking thermal system with just one fan and a single heat pipe, the Core Ultra 7 155U can sustain higher clocks in medium and long loads than the bigger Latitude 5550 with the same chip. Expectedly, the fan here is more audible but it’s not noisy. The keyboard is also warmer to the touch than the one of the 5550 version but it’s not scorching hot so we can call it a day. The battery life with the same 54Wh capacity is similar to the bigger “cousin” – around 9 hours of videos. Even the port selection is near equivalent – two Thunderbolt 4s and a pair of Type As (but the 14-incher doesn’t offer a MicroSD slot).

戴尔 Latitude 5450 评测–小而快
Source: Laptop Media English
就连端口选择也几乎相当–两个 Thunderbolt 4 和一对 Type As(但 14 英寸机型不提供 MicroSD 插槽)。
Positive: Silent system; solid workmanship; comfortable keyboard; long battery life; nice webcam; fast fingerprint sensor; powerful processor. Negative: Overheats while using; poor display.

Dell: Dell is a U.S. manufacturer (based in Texas) of computer hardware founded in 1984 and is one of the largest international manufacturers in terms of both market share and notebook models. Its product line includes desktops, notebooks, storage systems, monitors, servers, printers, consumer electronics and peripherals. Dell offers laptops that are suitable for various applications, such as business laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables and workstations. Dell's business laptops from the Latitude and Precision series are an option for professional users and businesses.

In 2023, Dell had an approximate 17% market share of global PC sales, ranking #3 after Lenovo and HP.

For gaming enthusiasts, Dell's Alienware brand is for gaming notebooks.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 96 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.

Intel Graphics 4-Core: Integrated graphics card based on the Xe LPG architecture (similar to the dedicated Arc GPUs, but with a focus on efficiency). Provides 4 Xe cores (64 Xe vector engines) and 4 ray tracing units.

Intel Alder Lake-P:

i7-1270P: A higher-end Alder Lake-P family CPU featuring 4 performance cores and 8 efficient cores along with the 96 EU Iris Xe iGPU and "Enterprise" tier vPro feature set. The CPU cores run at 1.6 GHz to 4.8 GHz. This i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops. Its performance cores feature the thread-doubling Hyper-Threading technology for 16 threads in total. Core i7-1270P's Base Power is 28 W.

Intel Meteor Lake-U:

Ultra 7 155U: A mid-range Meteor Lake chip that debuted in December 2023. This 1st Gen Core Ultra processor has come to replace 13th generation Core processors; it has 12 cores (2 + 8 + 2) and 14 threads at its disposal. Its Performance cores, of which there are 2, run at up to 4.8 GHz while its Efficient cores, of which there are 10 (8 main cores plus 2 extra ones found in the Low Power Island) run at up to 3.8 GHz. The 4-core Intel Arc Graphics, just out of the oven, serves as the integrated graphics adapter - this runs at up to 1.95 GHz - and there is a bevy of other brand-new technologies on offer as well including the integrated AI Boost NPU with two Gen 3 engines for hardware AI workload acceleration. This laptop processor's Base power consumption is 15 W, with 57 W being its maximum Intel-recommended Turbo power consumption.

14.00:

14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.

In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.
