Dell's Inspiron brand has been around for ages and has seen plenty of transformations in its time. These days it represents Dell's entry-level, value range, which is why its netbooks go by the title Inspiron Mini. This is a good desktop replacement laptop which, however you configure it, offers excellent value for money and performance. It's got a simple, stylish chassis too, but it's let down by a slightly iffy keyboard and a noisy cooling fan.

There's life in colossal media centers after all, as consumers aren't ready to give up precious screen real estate, even as they are ready to toss away their clunky desktops. The Dell Inspiron 1764-5595IBU has all the components that'll ease your transition from a desktop to a laptop, except if you're a gamer. With its Core i5 processor and ample screen real estate, the Dell Inspiron 1764-5595IBU offers an easy transition from desktop to laptop, but gamers will need a better graphics card.

A leading brand for laptops and computers in the world, Dell, designs and manufactures laptop in different categories to fulfill the computing requirements of different users around the world. The Dell Inspiron 17R constitutes one of the latest products from Dell – it is expected to be capable to meed the needs of consumers on a sophisticated desktop replacement laptop. A 17 inch display is the perfect size for those who prefer to use their laptop as a desktop replacement. While it’s actually made of plastic, they’ve successfully put a nice-looking brushed metal finish on its lid and keyboard tray. In today's desktop replacement market with a wide range of choices from low-end to high-end laptops, this laptop has a clear advantage – it offers a variety of hardware configurations. This laptop can be purchased with either Intel’s i3, i5 or i7 processor. Thus, it proves to be a better choice as consumers will get the best value for money with their purchase.
However, being a desktop replacement means that the battery life isn’t going to be great. Such as what are typically expected for a 17 inch laptop, this laptop doesn’t offer long battery life as well as portability since it is also bulky and quite heavy. Besides, its low quality display is another huge let down because the screen quality could be much better if it came with a full-HD display instead of the current 1,600 x 900 pixels display. It isn’t the laptop for those who want portability and ultimate gaming performance. But if you’re looking for a budget-friendly laptop for a desktop replacement with multimedia capabilities, the Dell Inspiron 17R is a great-value option.

17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.8 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

77%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
