If dark fantasy dungeon crawlers with some demonic deal-making are your thing, this deal might be worth a look. Hellslave, a turn-based RPG from indie developer Ars Goetia, is currently free to claim on Steam. Once you add it to your library, it’s yours forever. The offer ends on June 16 - nearly two weeks away from the date of writing.
Originally released in May 2022, Hellslave lets you play as a doomed soul who strikes a pact with one of six demons in order to stop a growing hellish invasion. The game features traditional dungeon crawling with character customization, demonic skill trees, and turn-based combat. As the protagonist, you get to explore ruined cities, crypts, and other cursed landscapes, all while choosing how much of your soul you’re willing to give up for power.
The current free-to-keep promotion also coincides with the announcement of Hellslave II: Judgment of the Archon, expected to launch in 2026. The sequel will continue the original’s lore and mechanics, while at the same time, it will bring new classes, upgraded visuals, and a darker storyline that pits the player against both angels and demons.
While Hellslave has a 77% rating on Steam from only 700 user reviews, recent ones are pretty positive to say the least. That said, the game definitely isn’t for everyone - some found its pacing slow - but fans of gothic RPGs and dark fantasy narratives are likely to find it rewarding.
There’s no catch to this deal: the full version is free, and it’s not a trial or a demo. Just claim it before the deadline and it’s permanently yours.
