QNAP has released an improved version of DA Drive Analyzer designed to better detect drive failures using AI technology. The software was developed with ULINK and a complimentary one-drive license is available to QNAP NAS owners. Additional drives can be covered with a subscription plan starting at $5 per year per drive.
The DA Drive Analyzer leverages AI technology to detect pending drive failures that S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) alone cannot. The AI can do this because it is trained on data from actual drives across many manufacturers and models, providing insight into real-world indicators of failure.
The company says it can successfully detect pending drive failures in 83% of SATA HDDs and 78% of SATA SSDs that would normally fail within 180 days, sometimes without warning. The warnings from DA Drive Analyzer can allow users to proactively order drive replacements and double-check that their critical data is backed up properly prior to actual drive failure.
