Roborock H60 Hub Ultra test summary: Practical everyday helper

The combination of cordless vacuum cleaner and suction station is not new, but it is practical. Although it leads to follow-up costs due to dust bags, it makes everyday use easier. In this review, the Roborock H60 Hub Ultra cordless vacuum cleaner did a good job of cleaning smooth floor and also cleaned carpets satisfactorily.

The running time of just under 30 minutes on medium setting should be long enough for most households, especially as the appliance is always ready for use thanks to the charging station. The vacuum cleaner is also versatile thanks to the two additional attachments included in the scope of delivery, even if a little more would have been possible for a flagship model.

Apart from a few minor points of criticism regarding handling, the Roborock H60 Hub Ultra made a good impression in our test. With an MSRP of $600, it sits in the mid-range. So there are cheaper and more expensive battery vacuum cleaners with a suction station.

Pros

+ automatic emptying
+ always charged at station
+ solid cleaning performance
+ green light makes dirt visible

Cons

- relatively heavy
- no automatic power adjustment
- handling

Price and availability

The recommended retail price for the Roborock H60 Hub Ultra is $599.99. It is available directly at Roborock, in some cases at significantly lower prices.

Roborock also offers other models in the H60 series, for example the battery vacuum cleaner Roborock H60 Ultra without the suction station.

Roborock has recently launched the H60 series, a range of modern cordless vacuum cleaners that are also available with an optional suction station. The Roborock H60 Hub Ultra is the top model in the series and therefore comes with the best features. Our Roborock H60 Hub Ultra test reveals what the device can do and how it performs in practice.

Station and scope of delivery: Automatic emptying and three brushes

In the hub version, Roborock combines the 210 AW battery vacuum cleaner with a charging and suction station. The vacuum cleaner is not only charged in its station and is therefore always ready for use, but is also emptied automatically after use.

For this purpose, the Auto-Empt Dock contains a 3 liter dust bag in which the dirt is collected. This replaces the regular manual emptying of the dust container on the vacuum cleaner. The bag needs to be replaced much less frequently, which, however, leads to follow-up costs compared to a cyclone model with dust container.

To access the bag, a magnetic panel on the left-hand side of the station must be removed. Unfortunately, this does not open like a door, but you have it in your hand. In addition to the dust bag, there is also space for two of the supplied accessories: the motorized mini brush and the 2-in-1 crevice brush. This means that the accessories are always in place.

It would be practical if the telescopic tube and floor brush were also attached to the station when the vacuum cleaner is being used with one of the other attachments. In addition to the total of three brushes (floor brush, motorized mini brush and 2-in-1 crevice brush) and a manual, an additional dust bag is also included in the scope of delivery, so that a total of two are included (one is already inserted).

The space requirement is around 30 x 40 m in width and depth. The height with the vacuum cleaner attached is around 108 cm. To fit into the station, the telescopic tube must first be fully retracted. This makes the solution space-saving when not in use, but it can be extended by a total of 22 cm if required and thus adapted for different body heights.

Cleaning performance: Competition is a little stronger

The cleaning performance of the Roborock H60 Ultra battery vacuum cleaner is good. The suction power of 210 AW cannot quite keep up with the (usually more expensive) top models from other manufacturers. For example, the Dreame Z40 Station, which is almost twice as expensive according to the MSRP, achieves 310 AW. For most households, however, the suction power offered with the three power levels (Eco, Medium, Max) should be sufficient, especially if the floors are predominantly smooth.

The H60 Hub Ultra from Roborock also performed well on carpets in the test and was able to remove a lot of dirt, but not all of it, even with a longer pile. However, after several passes over heavily soiled areas (for example with fine sand), most of the dirt was picked up. Hair hardly got tangled up on the roller, so manual intervention is generally not necessary. The green light on the floor brush is a practical feature. This makes more dirt visible.

The vacuum cleaner can be laid relatively flat on the floor, which helps when cleaning under furniture. Unfortunately, the foldable tube of the Roborock H60 Ultra (without a station) is not included with the Hub version. With the other two nozzles, which can be easily exchanged, sofas, beds and the like as well as joints and gaps can also be cleaned easily.

Battery life and impressions: Practical and long-lasting

Roborock specifies a battery life of up to 90 minutes. This is of course the value for the weakest of the three modes. In the practical test, the vacuum cleaner lasted 28 minutes on the medium setting. In the strongest mode (e.g. for carpets), it lasted under 10 minutes.

The charging process for the 78.7 Wh battery took around three hours in total and consumed a good 100 Wh including a single dust evacuation process. The standby consumption when the vacuum cleaner is plugged in but fully charged is commendably minimal.

The suction process only takes a few seconds and is around 75 dB (measured from a distance of 1 m) loud. During our test, the dust container was generally emptied quite well, although some dirt may remain. For this purpose (and filter cleaning), the container can also be removed and cleaned manually.

The weight of the cordless vacuum cleaner with telescopic tube and floor brush is approx. 3 kg, including the replaceable battery (motor block with battery around 1.8 kg). There are lighter, but also heavier appliances on the market. As with most of its competitors, the Roborock H60 Hub Ultra's center of gravity is in the upper area, where the motor and battery are located. This is noticeable during prolonged use.

During the test, we also noticed that the handle could be a little more ergonomic. The hard plastic feels solid in the hand. However, if your hands tend to sweat, they can slip a little, which makes handling more difficult.

Holding the appliance is made easier by the fact that no button has to be permanently pressed with a finger for the cordless vacuum cleaner to vacuum. Instead, it is switched on via a button at the top of the display. A second button is used to switch between the three power levels. During use, however, these are difficult to reach with the holding hand (even with a large hand), so the second hand is required. Unfortunately, there is no automatic adjustment of the suction power (e.g. for carpets).

The display is also quite rudimentary and only shows the battery level as a percentage and the currently set level. Other models sometimes offer more. At least the approximate remaining runtime would be useful.
