After a several months long closed beta test, CloudMagic has released their Newton email client for Windows 10 via the Windows Store. Newton has some powerful email features, but costs US$50 per year and is competing against paid and free stalwarts such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, and integrated OS clients.

Newton is an email client by CloudMagic with a minimalistic design which hides some powerful features. It originally started life on MacOS, iOS, and Android devices but a Windows app has been absent up until now. However, Newton is launching today (17th August) for Windows 10 via the Windows Store — although it wasn't in the German Windows Store at the time of writing.

Newton supports the most common email services including Gmail, Outlook.com, Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, iCloud, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and IMAP accounts. Native clients on MacOS, iOS, Android, ChromeOS, and Windows 10 give users a consistent experience even if they use a range of devices. Features include read receipts, scheduled sending, automatic filtering of newsletters and social media, email snooze, undo send, integration with Evernote, OneNote, todoist, Pocket and more, and finally a sender profile which pulls LinkedIn / Twitter / Facebook information for recognized email addresses.

The major downside is that it is a subscription based service which costs US$50 per year. This fee isn't inconsequential and competes with other paid options such as Microsoft Outlook, Inky, and Mailbird, or free options such as Thunderbird.

Regardless, if you're a Newton user on other platforms, you will be glad to have a Windows option that will sync easily across your devices.

I grew up in a family surrounded by technology, starting with my father loading up games for me on a Commodore 64, and later on a 486. In the late 90's and early 00's I started learning how to tinker with Windows, while also playing around with Linux distributions, both of which gave me an interest for learning how to make software do what you want it to do, and modifying settings that aren't normally user accessible. After this I started building my own computers, and tearing laptops apart, which gave me an insight into hardware and how it works in a complete system. Now keeping up with the latest in hardware and software news is a passion of mine.
