Canyon Spectral:ON CF 9: Lightweight 20.8 kg e-MTB delivers 150 Nm and 700 Wh with DJI Avinox M2S

The Canyon Spectral:ON CF 9 is a new, lightweight, high-performance e-MTB. For now, Canyon has merely unveiled the e-bike; preorders will not open until early December, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the new year. The Spectral:ON CF 9 targets riders seeking maximum assistance. Pricing details have not yet been disclosed.
At the heart of the build is the Avinox M2S mid-drive motor, which delivers up to 150 Nm of peak torque and 1,500 watts of peak assistance, allowing riders to conquer steep climbs with minimal effort. Power is supplied by a 700 Wh battery to ensure solid range. As the "CF" designation implies, the bike features a carbon frame to keep overall mass down. Tipping the scales at a stated weight of 20.8 kg, it is notably light for a full-suspension e-bike equipped with a full-power mid-drive system.
Suspension duties are handled by a Fox Float X Factory rear shock and a Fox 36 Factory suspension fork with 160 mm of travel, rolling on DT Swiss HCX1700 wheels. The bike ships in a mullet configuration (29-inch front, 27.5-inch rear wheel), though a 29-inch rear wheel can also be fitted. Canyon also highlights a revised rear suspension kinematics curve designed to optimize stability and control under heavy braking. Shifting is handled by a wireless SRAM X0 AXS drivetrain.
The Canyon Spectral:ON CF 9 is a new, relatively lightweight and powerful e-bike. For now, however, Canyon has only unveiled the new e-bike. Preorders will not open until early December, and deliveries are not scheduled to begin until the new year. With the Canyon Spectral:ON CF 9, the manufacturer is targeting riders who want very powerful assistance. Pricing information is not yet available.
To achieve this, it uses the Avinox M2S motor. This mid-drive motor can deliver up to 150 Nm of peak torque and 1,500 watts of assistance, which should allow riders to tackle even the toughest climbs with a manageable amount of effort. The battery has a capacity of 700 Wh, so it should not run out of energy too quickly either. The CF in the product name already hints at it: The Canyon Spectral:ON CF 9 has a carbon frame, which naturally also helps keep the weight down. Its stated weight is 20.8 kilograms, which can certainly be considered lightweight for a full-suspension e-bike with a powerful mid-drive motor.
It uses a Fox Float X Factory shock and a Fox 36 Factory suspension fork with 160 millimeters of travel. DT Swiss HCX1700 tires are fitted. The bike comes with a 29-inch front wheel and a 27.5-inch rear wheel, making it a mullet bike, although a 29-inch wheel can also be used at the rear. An improved rear suspension spring curve is also advertised, which is intended to improve handling during heavy braking, for example. A SRAM X0 AXS derailleur drivetrain is fitted.
