Amazon has dropped the price of the Bose SoundLink Flex Bluetooth Speaker (2nd Gen) in Sunset Peach by 38% for a $60 savings off the MSRP of $159. The portable speaker reproduces music even when submerged up to 3.3 feet (1 m) underwater thanks to its IP67 rating and rugged design that withstands drops, sand, and dust.

When paired with a second SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen), owners can create a stereo speaker set when listening to music. They can further increase the sound output in Party Mode by having all connected speakers play the same music. Bose PositionIQ technology senses the orientation of the portable speaker to automatically optimize the sound output. Users can further adjust the equalization using the Bose smartphone app.

The speaker comes with a programmable button that can be used to automatically play music from Spotify through a connected smartphone, bring up a voice assistant, or link two speakers together into a stereo pair.

The SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen) connects to up to two audio sources simultaneously over Bluetooth 5.3. A built-in nylon strap allows the 1.3-pound (0.6 kg) speaker to be clipped to backpacks, and it floats in water. The Bose speaker has a rated runtime of up to 12 hours between charges, and a charge time of 4 hours using a USB-C power source.

However, the Bose SoundLink Flex (2nd Gen) does trail behind the JBL Flip 7 (also on sale at Amazon for $99.95), with shorter runtime, less powerful bass, and poorer water resistance. Also, the smaller Bose SoundLink Micro (2nd Gen) (on sale for $79 on Amazon) is more portable.

Nonetheless, the Flex does have a built-in microphone which the Micro lacks for use as a conference speaker during Monday morning stand-up meetings.
