The Hero 10 feels like a step back to the early days of foldable smartphones, with its small external screen, noticeable crease, and subpar cameras. While its affordable price may appeal to budget-conscious buyers, the numerous compromises—especially in display functionality and camera quality—make it less competitive. For the same price, you can find better-performing conventional smartphones. Unless folding functionality is your top priority, the Hero 10 might not be the best choice.

At first impression, the Blackview Hero 10 might look like a standard flip phone, while the hardware section brings an average chipset. But the plus point would be the stunning display, aesthetic looks, and fast charging. You can expect a decent viewing experience with higher storage support. Yet this is a decent flip smartphone and it comes under 400 USD. Like most of the Blackview phones, performance is also neglected on this phone. Like most Blackview phones, the company tries to bring the best configuration at the approach price range. They also marketed this phone as an Af-foldable phone. But despite this, it has become yet another feature phone.

If the Blackview Hero 10 was $499 all of the time, I’d say it’s a fitting price. The flaws wouldn’t stand out so much. But when you’re priced the same as something as polished as the Motorola Razr, it’s a high bar to meet. The Hero 10 simply doesn’t. But, even then, I’m not sure a $499 foldable should even exist just yet. Foldables are still not perfect. They’re still a little too unpredictably fragile, and a little too hard to repair too. I’m just not sure that, in 2024, we’re ready for a foldable to be this cheap. Whether we like it or not, though, this device is helping to usher in a new wave of foldables that are far less expensive than they’ve ever been, and I’m certainly curious to see where that goes.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.
