BeaverLab Tech launches Kickstarter for Darwin MX Pro microscope with 2,200x magnification and 9-inch touchscreen powered by Android 13
BeaverLab Tech has started a Kickstarter campaign for its Darwin MX Pro digital microscope with 100x to 2,200x magnification and large 9-inch IPS touchscreen display running on top of Android 13 OS. The BeaverLab Darwin MX Pro digital microscope has an early bird price as low as $249 on Kickstarter.
The microscope uses multicoated optical lenses to help reduce glare and reflections with better image contrast. Three sets of lenses provide an optical magnification of 16x, 60x, and 100x and an integrated system magnification of 100x, 800x, and 2,200x. The microscope stage X- and Y-axis can be adjusted +/- 5 mm, while the Z-axis can be adjusted over a 40 mm range.
Specimens are lit with white LEDs from above and below the platform. The microscope is also capable of adjustable RGB light staining to reveal internal structures of specimens that are not easily seen under white light alone. The built-in mapping and surveying tools simplify counting of cells.
A 1/3-inch sensor with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 has a pixel size of 2 μm is used to image specimens. Images are saved as 2,560 x 1,440 JPG files, and videos are saved as 2,560 x 1,440 30 fps MP4 files to the internal 8GB eMMC storage. Images visible on the adjustable 1,024 x 600-resolution touchscreen can be mirrored over Wi-Fi to external monitors or HDTVs, enabling easy group viewing.
A 5000 mAh battery provides up to six hours of runtime in the field and recharges using a USB-C power supply. An included USB-C data cable allows the microscope to be connected to and controlled by a computer.
