Over the last few days, 3D printer manufacturer Bambu Lab has teased an upcoming product that will be launched on September 20. So far it has mentioned three features to look forward to – multicolor printing, active motor noise cancellation and automatic flow calibration – which rumors online say point to a new low-cost bedslinger printer called the A1.

Bambu Lab is no stranger to being in the news, whether for its well-made 3D printers, its community-building MakerWorld platform, or that time when a cloud service error caused its printers to go online and start printing in the middle of the night. Well, this time, the company is building hype around an upcoming product launch on September 20. Over the last week, it has been dropping hints on X (fka Twitter) about some pretty exciting features to look forward to. Meanwhile, rumors have also emerged that a new low-cost printer called the A-1 will be launched, with the possibility of two variants.

The first post shows what looks like an extruder head and 4 colored filaments leading into it, with the caption “Colorful 3D printing for everyone”, hinting at a low-cost device. Bambu Lab’s already has a multicolor 3D printing solution in the form of the Automatic Material System (AMS) module for its printers, which stores and feeds 4 filament spools. It’s being speculated that the new printer could have an integral (instead of added on) AMS system.

The second post is even more exciting, as it explicitly mentions and shows a graphic illustrating “Active Motor Noise Canceling”, a feature never before seen in any 3D printer, and an extremely welcome one, provided it works as advertised. The third post talks about “Rethinking automatic flow dynamics calibration” and “the next generation of flow control solution”, which would improve smoothness and uniformity in printing.

Now, coming to the rumors, some users on Reddit, as well as the website 3Dprinteracademy.com have cited “reliable sources” in claiming that two products will be launched, at least one of which will be a low-cost bedslinger printer (i.e. one where the bed moves on one axis and the extruder on the other) with some form of integral AMS-style multicolor filament feeding system. The name A1 has emerged based on an official trademark filing by the company under the name “Bambu Lab A1”.

Needless to say, the September 20 event will be an exciting launch with some interesting features being revealed, and one that we will be covering on this website.
