Chinese AI and internet services company Baidu has announced new software and hardware powered by AI at the annual Baidu World Conference. Like Google, Baidu is the leading search engine in China, and it has slowly diversified its operations over the years to include AI.
According to a report by Reuters, after two years of an expensive push towards AI, Baidu has launched its first image generator and no-code platform. It also announced that its AI chatbot, Ernie, responds to more than 1.5 billion user queries daily.
The company says that its new text-to-image tool, I-RAG, minimizes "hallucinations" in images and uses the search engine to improve prompts and image output.
Miaoda, the no-code platform, will reportedly allow users without coding expertise to build application prototypes. The company says the platform will use the Ernie LLM to generate code that can be easily modified and edited.
Besides the new software tools, Baidu showcased smart glasses from its hardware division, Xiaodu. The glasses have an AI assistant powered by the Ernie Foundation model and will integrate with services like Baidu Maps and Baike
