Spanish manufacturer BQ announced a CyanogenMod 12.1 edition of its Aquaris X5 smartphone for Telefonica back in November 2015. The 5-inch smartphone was made available in Spain, though the device can be bought online across borders for 240 Euros.
The smartphone has been enough of a success story to officially launch it in additional European countries via the O2 network. All new BQ smartphones come with a lengthy five-year warranty if purchased in official regions. Core specifications remain unchanged from last year and include:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 412 MSM8916T
- 2 GB RAM
- 16 GB eMMC w/ MicroSD support
- 5-inch 720p display
- 2900 mAH non-removable battery
- 13 MP rear Sony IMX214 f/2.0 camera w/ Flash + 5 MP front Samsung S5K5E2 camera w/ Flash
- 144.4 x 70.5 x 7.5 mm
- 148 grams
CyanogenMod 12.1 is based off of Android 5.1 Lollipop instead of the newer Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It remains to be seen whether or not the manufacturer will officially release CyanogenMod 13 as a future OTA update.
