Last year, BOE unveiled a 480 Hz panel for focused on the gaming market. This year, the Chinese panel maker is introducing the first 500 Hz panel aimed at competitive gamers. This a 27-inch panel with a full HD resolution and a response time of 1 ms.
BOE's 500 Hz panel, which uses oxide semiconductor display technology, is faster than any other gaming monitor available on the market today; the fastest ones from the likes of Viewsonic, Asus, Acer, and Alienware top out at 360 Hz. While a majority of gamers have graduated to 1440p displays, 1080p is still the preferred choice for ultra-competitive gaming. This is probably why BOE chose to stick to FHD this time.
BOE hasn't indicated any plans of mass marketing the 500 Hz panel yet, so it will be some time before this display hits the market. This 500 Hz panel also offers 8-bit output and supports 8-lane eDP.
Driving 500 Hz will require the fastest Nvidia or AMD GPU available, and it is possible only in eSports titles that are not texture-heavy. That being said, the high refresh rate comes with the added benefit of lower latency, which should help if you have matching reflexes.
Additionally, BOE also announced its first 110-inch 8K 120 Hz panel. However, no further specifications or pricing information was released.
