Axial's new SCX24 Chevy C10 RC crawler gets modular grills and performance oil shocks

Axial is updating its 1/24 scale crawler lineup with a new 1967-1972 Chevrolet C10 body. This scale condenses six years of pickup history into a single box. It is specifically launching for the rock crawling segment, where drivers focus on slow-speed technical climbing over obstacles rather than high-speed racing.
The modular grill system is a neat feature for collectors. Users can swap between three different plastic inserts to replicate the 1967/68, 1969/70, or 1971/72 model years. This customization comes in a "Ready-To-Run" package, which includes the assembled vehicle, radio transmitter, battery, and charger needed to start driving immediately.
A majority of internal changes are found beneath the polycarbonate shell. Axial has moved to oil-filled shocks, which use internal fluid to dampen suspension movement for better stability. Thanks to these, users can enjoy a more composed ride compared to older spring-only designs. The suspension allows for greater articulation, meaning the wheels move independently to stay in contact with uneven ground.
The drivetrain uses metal worm gears in the front and rear axles. These gears allow for a smaller axle housing that sits higher off the ground, effectively increasing clearance. They also serve as a mechanical brake, since they can hold the truck in place on steep hills without needing any electronic assistance. This compact setup should be very helpful for navigating the tight turns and steep inclines found in indoor courses.
The kit itself will cost $149.99 and is expected to ship on May 6, 2026. You'll get a Spektrum 2.4GHz transmitter (curr. $55 on Amazon), a 350 mAh LiPo battery, and a USB charger in the box alongside the crawler.
