Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra have something big to look forward to, as a new title, called Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, was announced during the New York Comic Con. The announcement was accompanied by a trailer, giving fans their first look at the characters and their abilities.
According to the official Steam page, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game focuses on elemental combat and bending mastery. The developers say it takes inspiration from classic fighting games but also brings new ideas, especially when it comes to movement and combat expression.
At launch, the game will include 12 playable characters, and more will be added over time through a season model. Players will also be able to choose support characters, who can help during battles by giving extra moves or changing play style.
What’s interesting is that the game won’t just focus on multiplayer. It will also have a single-player story mode with a brand-new original story. And since the game will support cross-play, people on different platforms will be able to play together online.
At the moment, the title is still a work-in-progress name, and the developers said the final title may change later. Also, there isn’t a confirmed release date yet, but the trailer shows that the game is scheduled to be released in summer 2026 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
