Along with Dell and Lenovo, Asus will be jumping in on the Kaby Lake-R bandwagon with its Zenbook 13 and Zenbook 3 Deluxe flagship notebooks. The latter model was unveiled at CES earlier this year and so this latest refresh is nothing more than an internal processor update. The 14-inch notebook utilizes very narrow bezels to be just 1.1 kg in weight and 12.9 mm thick with two Thunderbolt 3 ports as standard not unlike the current Zenbook 3. Higher-end SKUs will ship with 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe SSD.
Meanwhile, the brand new Zenbook 13 (UX331) will arguably be the more interesting model of the two. This smaller 13-inch notebook will utilize the same NanoEdge narrow bezels as the Zenbook 3 Deluxe above but in a slightly heavier (1.12 kg) and thicker (13.9 mm) chassis in order to accommodate both a native 4K UHD display and discrete Nvidia MX150 graphics. Otherwise, the system will ship with up to 16 GB of RAM, a 1 TB PCIe SSD, and similar 8th gen Core i7 CPU options as the Zenbook 3 Deluxe.
The manufacturer has been mum on exact specifications, prices, and availability for the Zenbook 13 and Zenbook 3 Deluxe. Judging by the September launch window of the XPS 13 and Yoga 920, however, we can likely expect more details from Asus sooner rather than later.
