Asus has delivered a very well built convertible with accurate screen, decent processing power and rock hard hinges for a very reasonable price. You’ll probably want to double the memory and SSD size if you do choose to buy it, boosting the price by a rather large amount, but there’s no denying that this is one of the better convertibles on the market.

Just a glance at ASUS’s refined ZenBook Flip UX360UA is enough to betray the notion that the 2-in-1 category has matured. Made up of two 14mm polished aluminium halves, the Flip is fused together by a pair of honed, fully reversible hinges that allow the screen to fold completely back on itself.

Stylish, slim, enduring. With the ZenBook Flip UX360UAK, Asus delivers a stylish and slim 13.3-inch convertible that can boast with an outstanding battery life. The configuration is also good: SSD, IPS panel, backlit keyboard. The whistling fan is an annoyance. This flaw should not appear in a 1000-Euro ($1061) device.

Despite falling in the middle or bottom of our benchmark comparisons, using the Flip is a really pleasant experience overall. It still feels snappy and can multitask well: When we had over a dozen tabs open in Chrome, including videos running on YouTube, we could still copy files to the SSD with no slowdowns.

Asus Zenbook Flip UX360UAK-BB283T
It’s quite common these days to be spoilt for choice when it comes to the notebook market with many categories from your average clamshell notebook, to ultrabooks or even convertibles. One such specimen is the Asus Zenbook Flip UX360UAK-BB283T, which is technically the sister model of the normal UX360UA. So what’s different this time around? The Zenbook Flip UX360UAK is powered by an Intel Core i5-7200U processor, 8 GB of non-expandable RAM and a 256 GB SSD. As the Zenbook Flip UX360UAK and its predecessor are identical there isn’t much to be said about the chassis, keyboard and its speakers. However, the predecessor suffered from weak hinges. This has been rectified in this current iteration where the hinges are noticeably stiffer, which is an actual improvement to say the least. Users can now use it confidently without being worried about the cost of repairing those hinges. The Zenbook Flip UX360UAK is equipped with a Full HD IPS panel which has a compelling brightness level. As for color accuracy, the provided panel was able to achieve about 92 percent of the sRGB rating, which is quite a decent color reproduction score. Because of its size IO remains a little scarce with only two USB type A ports, a USB type C port, an SD card slot and a HDMI port which is considered a bonus considering how cramped the sides would become. Because this is a convertible it should be mentioned that the display has touch support with up to 10 points, which is about standard. The touch panel is also quite reasonably sensitive and responsive when it comes to corners as usually touch panels tend to face reduced or even lost sensitivity towards those areas. Naturally as this is a convertible a long battery life is a must, so how well does the Zenbook Flip UX360UAK score in those metrics? Quite surprising well at a total runtime of 11 hours and 42 minutes on Wi-FI which easily outpaces most of its competition. So overall verdict being, while its previous iteration mostly suffered from hinge issues it has mostly been rectified in the present iteration. Along with its power sipping Core i5, the Zenbook Flip UX360UAK actually manages itself quite well. This includes its LCD panel which has a good balance between brightness, contrast and viewing angles. The Zenbook Flip was always one of the most popular choice for a convertible and this model just made it better. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
