Asus fans who expected the new ZenFone family to arrive at COMPUTEX 2017 were disappointed, especially since the ZenFone 3 lineup was unveiled during last year's edition of the Taiwanese trade show. Sadly, the ZenFone 4 family had to be delayed for a last-minute combination of "design overhaul and efficiency upgrades."
Now, the company's CEO Jerry Shen confirms that everything is all right and the ZenFone 4 devices are scheduled to arrive at the end of next month. DigiTimes quoted him saying that "The ZenFone 4 family will come with competitive prices, and is hoped to turn around Asustek's money-losing smartphone business starting the third quarter."
The first ZenFone 4 device to hit the market would be a 5.5-inch mainstream model. According to Shen, it will hit the Taiwanese market for a price tag of less than $500 USD (unlocked). Larger ZenFone 4 models are expected to follow after a while as well.
Later this week, Asus plans to launch the ZenFone AR in Taiwan. Its price tag reads almost $830 USD.
