For those uninterested in the recent Ultrabook releases, Asus has got a new notebook to fill in the gap.
The Asus U24E-XH71 is a 13.3-inch notebook with a Core i7-2620M CPU, 1366x768 resolution display, integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD and a 6-cell battery. Connectivity options include 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, HDMI, multi-card reader, Ethernet and Bluetooth. While there is no optical drive included, the 0.75- to 1.09-inch (19.05mm to 27.7mm) thick build still allowed for a full voltage CPU, unlike the ULV processors in current Ultrabooks.
In terms of looks, the brushed magnesium-aluminum chassis should make the notebook more sturdy and lightweight compared to plastic counterparts. The notebook is also only 3.31 pounds (1.5kg), which is about half a pound heavier than the Asus UX31 ultrabook (2.86 pounds). Users can expect battery life to last for up to 10 hours on a full charge.
The U24E-XH71 is available now for $829 with a 1-year limited warranty.
