Frigid Fellow. Asus expands its K-Series to a 16.0 inch display with the K61IC. The Ice-Cool technology is once again on board and provides for comfortable temperatures on the palm rest. But this isn't the only surprise. The maker also amps up the graphic card to a Nvidia GeForce GT 220M. Does this perhaps change the previously lame office notebook into a true racer?

It may not have the best keyboard or battery life, but for that price, we think you should buy the Asus K61IC laptop for its very good screen and onboard audio, giving you a very good audio-video playback experience. Also it comes with 2 years of global warranty -- something you don't see from other laptop vendors. You should consider it if you want a good home entertainment multimedia laptop and want that extra warranty cover.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Incorporated, a Taiwanese multinational company, produces motherboards, graphics cards, optical drives, PDAs, computer monitors, notebook computers, servers, networking products, mobile phones, computer cases, computer components, and computer cooling systems. The company's 2007 revenues reached US$6.9 billion. ASUS also produces components for other manufacturers. The Eee PC initiated the netbook boom in 2008.

In the notebook sector, Asus had a global market share of about 11% from 2014-2016, making it the fourth largest laptop manufacturer. In the smartphone sector, Asus is not among the Top 5 and has only a small market share (as of 2016).


Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 220M: The GeForce GT 220M is a relabeled GeForce 9600M GT for OEM laptop sellers. It is for example used in the Medion Akoya P6620 where it uses fast GDDR3 memory. Intel Pentium Dual Core: The return of the name Pentium, though it is a Yonah core. In fact, it is a double Core processor with a very good relation of performance to current consumption.

T4300:

Entry - middle class dual core CPU with 1 MB level 2 cache and no virtualization technology. Compared to the Core 2 Duo line, some power saving mechanism are deactivated. 

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.

T6600: Entry level Core 2 Duo dual core processor with a small 2MB level 2 cache and without virtualization functions.
