A recent report shows that the "cheap" iPhone 5C is four times less popular than the iPhone 5S in terms of Internet search volume. On the other hand, "iPhone 6" is already a popular keyword.

The recent launch of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and their first weekend on the market managed to surprise even Apple as sales managed to establish a new record. Now, a detailed report on online consumer behavior by Experian Marketing Services shows even more surprising facts about the new iPhones. The data in this report shows how consumers have reacted from the first rumors in March to the launch event in September.

According to Experian, data retrieved by Hitwise shows a first noticeable increase of search activity in June when iOS 7 Beta arrived, followed by an impressive peak during the second week of September when the volume of searches of iPhone-related keywords has seen an increase of 212 percent over the previous week. During this period, there were recorded 43 percent "iphone 5S" searches and only 11 percent "iphone 5C" ones. Far behind were "iphone 6" and "new iphone" each with 4 percent.

The Champagne Gold iPhone 5S managed to surprise everyone with its impressive sales, but searches of "gold" iPhones were very low, below 1 percent. This shows that most customers who purchased these handsets got them from retail stores or even online but without any prior research.

In the week after the release cases held the first position in the iPhone accessories category with 77 percent, followed by chargers with only 6 percent.
