Apple Watch Extreme could launch as Apple Watch Pro with exclusive features and a US$1,000 price tag
Mark Gurman has provided more details about the Watch Extreme, on which he reported a few days ago. However, Gurman now asserts that the smartwatch is likely to launch as the Watch Pro, not the Watch Extreme, Watch Extreme Edition, or Watch Explorer Edition. Arguably, 'Watch Pro' makes more sense, considering the volume of Pro products that Apple already sells, such as the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro.
Supposedly, Apple could charge as much as US$1,000 for the Watch Pro, which would make it significantly more expensive than the regular Watch Series. For context, the Watch Edition costs 10x that, in part thanks to its elaborate case materials. The Watch Pro is rumoured to feature a more rugged design than the Watch Series 8 too though, as we discussed last week.
Allegedly, Apple has codenamed the Watch Pro 'N199'. Gurman adds that the Watch Pro could replace the Watch Edition, meaning that there will be no Watch Edition Series 8. Moreover, Gurman states that the Watch Pro will only be available LTE connectivity, increasing its retail price somewhat. Ultimately, the Watch Pro will probably compete against the Galaxy Watch5 Pro, renders of which leaked last week.
