Amazon has slashed the price of the Kindle Colorsoft and Paperwhite (2024), with both e-readers currently down to their lowest prices so far this year. It's rare to find a Kindle on discount outside of Prime Day and major sales events, so if you’ve been contemplating picking up a dedicated e-reader, consider this your sign.
As part of its ongoing Valentine’s Day sale, Amazon is knocking $50 off the Kindle Colorsoft, bringing it down to $230 from its $280 regular price. That’s the lowest price we’ve seen for the company’s first color e-reader since its launch in October. For those not bothered by the fancy color screen, the all-new Paperwhite (2024) is also on sale. Right now, you can pick up the ad-supported version for $135 or the ad-free model for $155, thanks to a generous $25 discount—just $5 shy of the Paperwhite’s all-time low.
If you've owned several Kindles and want to try something new, the Kindle Colorsoft might be exactly what you need. It comes with a 7-inch glare-free color E Ink display that's great for comics and graphic novels. Beyond the color screen, the Colorsoft is pretty much the same as the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, offering features like auto-brightness, wireless charging support, IPX8 water resistance, and 32GB of storage for storing thousands of books and audiobooks.
If this is your first Kindle, we recommend the Paperwhite. It’s substantially cheaper than the Colorsoft and you'll get a sharper black-and-white screen with all the inherent benefits of E Ink technology. And while you do miss out on perks like auto-brightness and wireless charging, the Paperwhite offers four extra weeks of battery life and faster page turns. Moreover, it also retains IPX8 water resistance and USB-C charging.
